Since inception in 2005, YAAPA has achieved the following core achievements:

  • Implemented capacity building and training to organization’s members and staff on; leadership, administration, counseling, peer education, financial management, proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation and income generating activities.
  • Participated and coordinated mass community events to campaign the fight against HIV and AIDS in Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal.
  • Supported smaller youth stakeholders’ groups and helped them develop independence.
  • Created and implemented advocacy and lobbying outreaches about youth and children’ involvement rights.
  • Improved HIV/AIDS counseling and testing information to youth and children through outreach campaigns and life skills trainings in primary and secondary school in Kigoma-Ujiji municipal and Uvinza rural district.
  • Established and managed of one Nursery School and Basic Supplementary Education Center at Kizota Area, in Mwanga South Ward, Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal for vulnerable and out-of-school aged children living and coming from poor and disadvantaged families. The project is funded by YAAPA and community members as parents or fosters only.
  • Established and managed one Small “Carpentry and Joinery On-site Workshop Vocational at Katubuka ward for jobless and homeless youths. The project funded part by YAAPA members and part by the Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal Council.
  • Provided school educational materials to poor youths and children. Project supported by YAAPA members in partnership with PBL – Suisse (Partners for Better Life): 2008 to 2010.
  • Conducted workshop trainings to 30 youth leaders and 30 local governmental authorities on “good governance and human rights policies” in 3 villages of Sigunga ward, in Kigoma rural district. Project funded by the “Foundation for Civil Society’ – Dar es Salaam: 2009.
  • Conducted training and awareness to 300 youth community members on National youth development policy in 12 villages of Kagunga, Mwamgongo, kalinzi and Mkigo wards, in Kigoma rural district. Project funded by the Foundation for Civil Society – Dar es Salaam: 2012.
  • Conducted On-site Workshop Training on Building and Masonry for production and selling of Ventilation Bricklaying and Ornamental to 5 groups of 5 youths each. Project started through small loan from the Municipal Council and reimbursed after 12 months: 2010 – 2012.
  • Conducted training workshop on trees nursery and trees planting methods and practices, and reforestation of damaged and deforested areas in Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal, at Mwananchi Secondary school and Muungano Primary School, and Kaparamsenga Primary School: 2007, 2011.  
  • Established “YAAPA Youth Development and Cultural Centers” in Kaparamsenga and Kalya villages, in Kigoma rural areas.
  • Established and managed YAAPA Tailoring and Sewing Workshop Training for disabled and vulnerable youth girls and young-mothers at Kibirizi village, in peripheral wards of Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal. The Project funded by Tanzania Development Fund (TDT – UK): 2013.
